The Yellow® Art Awards competition started way back in 1990 and it selects 18 contemporary New Zealand artworks each year to grace the White pages® phone book covers. More than 350 artworks have made the front cover since it started.

It's not easy getting noticed when you start out as an artist. This competition provides winning artists with an unparalleled opportunity to showcase your work. Mark Olsen of Auckland and Hamish Allan of Christchurch are just some of the names whose careers have launched after entering the art awards competition.

If you’ve created a contemporary piece of artwork that's sitting on Granny’s wall then consider entering this year. This is your chance to win big.

• The national winner overall receives $20,000
• The winner in each region receives $2,000
• The first runner-up (second place) receives $1,000
• The second runner-up receives $500 

We’re after innovative art from any visual art discipline - be it a painting, drawing, collage or digital image – which is inspired by the region you live in.

Entry dates for this year’s competition have not been finalised. Check back for updates.

The national winner will win $20,000 and in each region the winner will receive $2,000, first runner up $1,000 and second runner up $500.

An independent judging panel will select the top three finalists from each region as well as the national winner.

The three finalists’ artwork from each region will be auctioned at the annual Yellow® Art Awards auction.
